Thanks for all the downloads recently! Thanks to that I found motivation to push ahead with a new version.
The changes are focused on fixing the combat flow, like not incentivizing sniping and making the pace slower.
Here's the changelog:
- Basics
- minigun
- spins up instantly
- has a lot more spread but no randomness
- this encourages getting up close for max x4 damage
- (it breaks multitasking when shooting down enemies during bullet form though)
- controls are more responsive
- game is overall less twitchy, entire game is a bit slower, slower falling and kick speed
- levitating is now triggered with jump button, has limited duration, can now move down
- ledge grab is more consistent
- quick dive has additional animation to it which makes it more satisfying to use
- enemies have scripted encounter system that changes the flow of combat
- minigun
- Advanced
- added kick dash - triggers when you shoot in the opposite direction to kicking
- scoring now rewards not shooting by slowing down score loss
- Enemy changes
- prologue boss has more depth if you are playing for the score (still not challenging because it's the tutorial stage)
- hives are more relentless and swarms can flank you, but it's easier to counter
- flying enemy in the prologue has a weak point
- rocket launchers are more tricky
- drones can retaliate now
- Balance
- player has less health, but there are invincibility frames in exchange
- kicking objects makes you lose some air control
- fumbling a kick has penalties to aim and landing
- parry can miss now, you need to deflect it horizontally or in a close distance
- bullet form is slower to trigger and loses more altitude, but it's still strong
- Other
- bug fixes
- minor visuals changes (i.e. muzzle flash, some sprites were changed to be more 3d, outro)
- better crosshair cursor
- removed upgrade menu for the time being
